What DGPS is best at
Differential GPS uses a fixed base station to correct satellite positioning down to centimetre-level accuracy. It excels at fixing exact boundary corners, planting survey stones and resolving disputes where the precise corner matters.
If your goal is a legally defensible boundary or accurate area for registration, DGPS is usually the right tool.
What drone survey is best at
A drone captures hundreds of overlapping aerial images that are stitched into an orthomosaic map and elevation model. It covers large or difficult terrain quickly and gives you a rich visual of the whole parcel.
For large layouts, topography, contour planning or simply seeing the land in context, drone mapping is fast and cost-effective.
Choosing between them
For a single house plot with a boundary dispute, choose DGPS. For a sprawling agricultural holding or a new layout that needs contours, choose a drone survey — often combined with DGPS ground control points for accuracy.
Many projects use both: the drone maps the area and DGPS ground points anchor that map to real-world coordinates.
